Your First Visit

Before you schedule your first booking with Western Smiles Dental Care, you might wonder about your first visit in our Mirrabooka, WA dental surgery. If you haven’t been to the dentist for a check-up and clean in a while, you might be feeling anxious about it. We believe that knowing what to expect can go a long way towards helping you feel comfortable during your visit.

What Should I Bring?

If you have questions about your oral health, we suggest that you write those down and bring them along. It’s easy to forget what you wanted to ask about while you are sitting in the dental chair.

In addition, you’ll want to bring:

  • Insurance or healthfund cards
  • A list of medications you are taking, including name and dosage
  • A list of medical conditions you might have

What Will Happen on My First Visit?

Unless you are coming in for a specific dental issue, most of our first-time patients are invited in to attend for a comprehensive exam, check-up and clean. Please allow approximately one hour for your first visit. This includes a tooth-by-tooth examination, an assessment of your gum health, bites, jaw joints, and smile. We also screen for oral cancers, tooth grinding (bruxism) and soft tissue diseases. We may also suggest dental x-rays at this time.

If the dentist determines that there are oral issues to address, including cavities, gum disease or other problems, they will discuss treatment options with you and you can decide which treatment plan best suits you.

We accept most insurance and government scheme so you can get the dental treatment you need and deserve.

In addition, we accept a variety of payments for your portion of the treatment total, which is due up front so you can avoid unexpected bills. We accept Mastercard, Visa, HICAPS, direct deposit (EFT), cash and cheque.
